The 2026 Intensive and Critical care Society of Nigeria Annual General meeting and scientific conference With Theme: Sustainable Financing of Intensive care Units in public health Facilities in Nigeria held in Niger Hall, Transcorps Hilton Hotel featured a panel discussion, where panelist which included seasoned Critical care physicians, Head of government Agencies and other stakeholders cross fertilised ideas on how to sustainably finance intensive care units in public health facilities in Nigeria. Some of the ideas discussed among others included:
- Encouraging Government to Ensure Abuja Declarations on Health funding in our annual budget
- Public private partnership
- Encouraging non Governmental organisations and Religious organisation to Invest in Critical care in Nigeria
- Encouraging Local productions of Critical care Consumables
- Adequate Insurance coverage for Critical care. Expanding the NHIA coverage for Nigerians.
- Establishment of Regional centers of Excellence for Critical Care in Nigeria.
The panelist appreciated the Association for coming up with this very important Discussion at this point while calling on all hands to be on deck to ensure proper financing of this important sector to avoid Preventable Deaths of Nigerians.
